The 17th Charter Anniversary and the 5th Uhay Festival Kick Off Ceremony
"Uhay Ay Buhay", panicle, the symbol of life. The 17th Charter Anniversary and the 5th Uhay Festival kick off ceremony of Science City of Muñoz were successfully done last December 9, 2017. It is composed of four events. A thanksgiving mass was offered at 6:00 in the morning for a successful year. This was solemnized by Rev. Fr. Nestor Romano of the San Sebastian Parish Church and was headed by the Hon. City Mayor Nestor L. Alvarez, Ph.D., City officials, LGU employees and the citizens of the city. Different products of different barangays and towns like foot wear, furniture, garden plants and agricultural products, foods and many more were displayed for the opening of the Christmas Bazaar at 8:00 in the morning. The Bazaar will be open from 4:00PM to 12:00 midnight until December 17.
Himig ng Pasko para sa inyo: A Christmas Concert featuring the University of Santo Tomas Singers under the baton of Prof. Fidel G. Calalang Jr. with sofrano and tenor artist Maria Carmila Molina and Abdul Candao respectively, the Central Luzon State University Maestro Singers under the baton of Dr. Randy Ibarra and the Science City of Muñoz Local Choir performed to serenade the constituents of the city with Christmas carols at 4:00PM at the San Sebastian Parish Church. The UST Singers is the premiere mixed choral ensemble composed of students and alumni from the different colleges and faculties of Asia's oldest university, the University of Santo Tomas. They have thirty two international concert tours which brought them to thirty three countries in Asia Pacific, Oceania, Europe and North America. The UST Singers holds distinction in being the only choir in the world to have won twice the highly coveted Choir of the World Grand Prize - Luciano Pavarotti Trophy in 1995 and 2010. Born in Davao, Abdul Candao won first prize in 1982 at the National Music Competetions for Young Artists in Manila while he was a member of the Philippine Saringhimig. He was also part of the Kayumangging Laligatan, a seven member vocal ensemble under the late National Artist Prof. Ernani Cuenco. The soprano artist Ms. Camille Lopez Molina studied voive at the University of the Philippines College of Music. She obtained her Professional Diploma in Music, majoring in Opera Studies from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in 1996 and proceeded to Viena Austria for Gesang until 2001. Ms. Molina is a three time Aliw Awardee for Best Female Classical Performer. At present, she is a member of the Voice Faculties of St. Scholastica's College School of Music, the University of the Philippines College of Music and the Philippine High School for the Arts.
The CLSU Maestro Singers of Central Luzon State University College of Education was organized in 1998 by Dr. Florante P. Ibarra. The group had won numerous awards in local and national levels. In the 2002 Literary Musical First National Finals and in the Regional Choral Competition, the Choir have placed the CLSU on top position for being champion for four consecutive years in the Development Council of State Universities and Colleges Literary Musical Festival from 1999-2003 Regional Level. Another performer is the Science City of Muñoz Local choir a promising group composed of young and talented students under the Baton of Mr. Nelween Gan.
The night was full of fun and surprises for the final program of the 5th Uhay Festival and the 17th Charter Anniversary Kick Off Ceremony of the City. It was opened by a prayer from Rev. Fr. Nestor Romano and Pastor Felix Santua followed by the welcome remarks of the City Mayor Nestor L. Alvarez, Ph.D. The night of fun continued as Engr. Florante Fajardo, the Provincial Assessor of Nueva Ecija represented Governor Czarina D. Umali and gave his Christmas message. An exemplary performances and band exhibition was executed from the Special Operations Command or the SOCOM Marching Band of the Fort Magsaysay Nueva Ecija, the Philippine Army Band of Fort Andres Bonifacio in Metro Manila and the 7th Infantry (Kaugnay) Division, Philippine Army Fort Ramon Magsaysay Nueva ecija. Other local artists like the Bungkos Palay Dance Company, Mr. Jeremy Manite and Ms. Gracious De Guzman plus the performance of DJ Lapera render their talents as well. The night of entertaining was completed with a grand show of fireworks display.
