4th Uhay Festival
This year’s Gupitang Bayan that was open to everyone was organized by the active city mayor Hon. Nestor L. Alvarez, Ph.D. last January 6, 2017 at 8:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Pag-Asa Gym Science City of Munoz.
PRC on Wheels
In cooperation with the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), the Local Government Unit (LGU) and Public Employment Service Office (PESO) organized “PRC on Wheels” this January 6, 2017 at Munoz Central School, Science City of Munoz. The said activity was conducted to lessen the expenses of the people in terms of transportation and have an easy access to renew and apply license. Hundreds attended the activity.
Services provided were: Initial Registration for licensure examination passer, application for licensure examination, renewal of professional ID/License, Release of Professional ID card and certificate of registration and Issuance (upon request) of certificate of good standing.
A fun filled night for the Non-Government Organizations was held at the City Hall grounds of the city last January 6, 2017. The program started with an invocation followed by welcome and opening remarks given by Hon. Edmond J. Balmeo. This was followed by the roll call of NGOs by Engr. Joel T. Manuel, City Cooperative Officer. An inspiring message was given by our city mayor Hon. Nestor L. Alvarez, Ph.D. Mr. Menard Q. Fajardo, CUMNE Chairman ended the program with his closing remarks. Everyone enjoyed the night filled with music and dancing.
Guardian's Day and Night
Twelve groups of Guardians of Science City of Munoz organized a bloodletting activity in cooperation with the Red Cross of Nueva Ecija. With the theme “Dugo mo buhay ko”, This was held at the Pag-Asa Gym last January 7, 2017. This activity was attended by city mayor Hon. Nestor L. Alvarez Ph.D., other city officials and invited guardian groups. A parade was done at 8:00 am before the blood donation, raffle draw and gift giving. The gathering of all the members continued in the evening filled with music and dancing.
1st SCM Invitational Motocross
1st Science City of Munoz Invitational Motocross Championship held last January 8, 2017 at Barangay Mangandingay. This was organized by Board Member Ed Agliam, Race Director.
The theme “You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country” was the Ecumenical Service theme held this 9th of January 2017 at 8am in the city hall ground. The program was composed of different prayers read by different pastors of Chosen Leaders Association In Muñoz and city officials to thank God for the different blessings received. City officials, LGU employees also attended the prayer service.
As Part of the 3rd Uhay Festival of the city, a Folk Dance Festival was held at the Science City of Munoz Pag-Asa Gymnasium yesterday, January 9, 2017 where elementary and secondary level consists of private and public schools and also the teaching and non-teaching level participated on the said competition. The competition was witnessed by the city mayor Hon. Nestor L. Alvarez Ph.D.; Hon. Eliseo C. Villanueva, chairman, committee on education; Catalina P. Paez, PhD, CESO VI, schools division superintendent; teachers and students
The judges for the competition were Mr. Antonio B. Macalalag Jr., chairman of the board, Mr. Jerick C. Santos and Ms. Bernadette B. Bersamin. Ms. Aileen M. Abril, teacher-III, MNHS-Annex gave an intermission number. For the elementary level 3rd place is South Cluster Maligaya (no.4), 2nd place is West Cluster Central (no.1) and the champion is East Cluster Bantug Elementary School (no.2). For the secondary level, 3rd place is Maragol Integrated School (no.2), 2nd place is Palusapis Integrated School (no.6) and the champion is San Sebastian School (no.7). For the teaching and non-teaching level, 3rd place is South Cluster (no.3), 2nd place is Secondary schools (no. 1) and the champion is North Cluster (no.5).
The Farmers Day, a day to celebrate and extend farming technologies for higher yield, seed and seedlings distribution and other farming activities was done from January 10-11, 2017 in the conference room of Munoz National High School and the Training Hall of the BFAR NFFTC. Registration begins at 7:30 AM. This was sponsored by the LGU City Agriculture Office, City Veterinary Office, Pigrolac and other agencies. Local government official, Hon. Vivencio Cajucom, chairman committee on agriculture also attended the seminar.
Job Fair, an event organized for employers or recruiters to meet with prospective job seekers was organized by the Public Employment Service Office of the Local Government Unit of Science City of Muñoz with the Phlippine Overseas Employment Administration this 10th day of January 2017. There were 207 applicants locally and from other towns and cities who attended the said event. Twenty applicants were hired by some companies on the spot. Nineteen (19) local and four (4) overseas companies attended to process application forms for job seekers for local and international jobs
Fashion in the 70s, the DepEd Night was held last January 10, 2017 at the Pag-Asa Gym Science City of Munoz. Flares, platforms, fringe, minis dominated the night. The party was joined by our city mayor Hon. Nestor L. Alvarez Ph.D., Dr. Catalina Paez, Ph.D, CESO VI, Schools Division Superintendent, Congresswoman Mikki Violago, vice mayor Hon. Ramon Angelo Coronel, city officials and guests.
The north cluster who won in the folk dance festival (teacher’s category) and the Munoz National High School Main Teacher Band performed that night. DepEd staff received certificate or plaque of recognition. The winners for the best in costume were Mr. Alvin Lazaro and Ms. Maricel Soriano, Ms. Elaine Tinio was the grand winner of Honda wave 125.
The Barangay Night was held at the Pag-Asa Gym Science City of Munoz last January 12, 2017. This was joined by our city mayor Hon. Nestor L. Alvarez Ph.D., Vice Mayor Ramon Angelo Reyes Coronel, Congresswoman Mikki Violago, City Councilors, ABC President Carlito Cacho and guests. Roll call of barangay was done by Ms. Rosie Sabiniano, DILG Officer. The X-pointer Mover, Munoz National Highschool Annex Student Dancers and Don Podring Orchestra gave a special number.
Mr. Pepito Duatin from barangay Pob. North and Barangay Magtanggol won Hand Tractor, the grand prize during the raffle draw. Everyone enjoyed the night filled of music and dancing.
The employees’ night was held on January 13, 2017 at 8:00 in the evening at the Pag-asa gymnasium of the city. This was sponsored by the Central Luzon State University headed by Dr. Tereso A. Abella, the university president. The Safari themed night was attended by the different institutions, the LGU of the Science City of Muñoz headed by the Hon. Nestor L. Alvarez, CLSU, PhilMech, BFAR-NFFTC, PHILRICE, PCC, DOST, DENR, NIA-CMPIPP, NIA-UPRIIS DIV I, NIA UPRIIS DIV V, NEFVSC, DAR-MARPO, Muñoz Water District, LBP, PNB, BDO, Producers Bank, GM Bank, NEECO II and Muñoz Cable TV. The party was also graced with the presence of the Hon. Micaela “Mikki” Violago, Representative of the 2nd District of Nueva Ecija. Different prices were drawn. 1st Uhay awardees and the best costume were announced during the night..
Sponsored by the Public Employment Service Office of the LGU of the Science City of Muñoz headed by Ms. Joyce Dator Tambalque and staff and DFA employees, a mobile E-pass porting was held on January 14, 2017 for personal appearance and processing at the Munoz National High School Conference Room. Staff of the Department of Foreign Affairs from Manila office started processing applicants’ applications last December. Deadline of filing of application for new and renewals was on November 11, 2016 to ease the flow of processing. A total of 677 applications were processed.
This year, the Kabataan Night was held at the Science City of Munoz Pag-Asa Gymnasium last January 14, 2017. This was joined by our city mayor Hon. Nestor L. Alvarez Ph.D., District II Representative Hon. Mikki Violago, city councilors and guests.
The program started with an Invocation led by Ms. Mary Grace Salazar, former SK Councilor of Brgy. Bantug, followed by the national anthem. A welcome address was given by Mr. Manuel G. Tambalque III, youth Development Officer. X-pointer Mover gave an intermission number. The candidate for Ms. Munoz 2017 was presented individually. Prizes were distributed .
Sto. Niño Festival
January is the feast of the Santo Niño. It is the most recognizable religious image in the Philippines because it is the oldest one in the archipelago dating back to 1521. In every catholic home, office, chapel, carinderia, tiangge, a statue of the Santo Niño can be found. In the Visayas, the biggest festivals are in honor of the Sto.Niño (www.sunstar.com) A Mass for the Sto.Nino Festival led by Rev Nestor Romano, Rev. Diomedes A. Burgos MSC, and Rev. Rodel Paglinawan was done at the San Sebastian Parish Church last January 15, 2016 followed by the parade at the city proper.
A cultural show Fire Bird sa saliw ng tugtuging VST&Co was featured by the Philippine Ballet Theatre, a world class ballet company and a leading dance group. It was held at the Science City of Munoz Pag-Asa Gym last January 16, 2017 at around 2:00 pm. It was attended by our city mayor Hon. Nestor L. Alvarez Ph.D., city councilors, Catalina Paez, Local Government Unit staff, teachers, elementary and high school students, and guests.
