4th Uhay Festival

Mutya ng Lungsod Agham 2017

Optimism and confidence filled the night of The Mutya ng Lungsod Agham ng Munoz 2017 for all the candidates and their supporters. Eighteen candidates from different barangays of Science City of Munoz compete on the said event that was held at the Pag-Asa gymnasium of the city last night, January 18, 2016. The city mayor Hon. Nestor L. Alvarez Ph.D., was joined by Ms. Margarita Margie Moran Miss Universe 1973, the 2nd Filipino Miss Universe, Ms. Minniang Pamintuan wife of Mr. Edgardo Pamintuan, city mayor of Angeles and president of the League of Cities of the Philippines, the members of the board of judges, city councilors, city officials, employees of the Local Government Unit of Science City of Munoz and the constituents of the city.

Ballet Philippines, Bungkos Palay Performing Arts Foundation, CLSU Maestro Singers, Y24D, Bagong Sikat Elementary School students, Deped CLSU Elementary School, Munoz North Central Elementary School, Brilliant Kids Montessori School, Mr. June Christian Lamson and Mr. Joel Belonio, the North Cluster (teachers category) and San Sebastian High school (highschool category), Bagong Sikat Elementary School (elementary category) champion in Folk Dance Competition performed that night to showcase their talent.

Mr. Tony Labrusco and Mr. James Ryan Cesena from Pinoy Boy band Philippines was the guest artist who performed to serenade the contestants and entertain the crowd.

For the minor awards, the winners for best in Binibining Malikhaing KasuotanFestival is candidate no. 12 Faye Fajardo, Binibining Photogenic is candidate no. 2 Arrienne Torres, Binibining Palakaibigan is candidate no. 12 Faye Fajardo. For the special awards, Binibining Olay is candidate no. 7, Archelle Turingan; Binibining Nailandia is candidate no. 3, Dezzaree Caras; Binibining TM award is candidate no. 13, Judy Anne Roxas Duran and Binibining Sisters’ Choice award is candidate no. 18, Maricris Jimenez; Binibining Texters Choice award is candidate no. 18, Maricris Jimenez. For the major awards, Natatanging Binibini para sa Kasuotang Panglangoy is candidate no. 7, Archelle Turingan; Natatanging Binibini para sa Kasuotang CasualBest is candidate no. 7, Archelle Turingan and Natatanging Binibini para sa Kasuotang Formal is candidate no. 17, Salini Theamudu. And finally, the winners are, for the 2nd runner up is candidate no. 1, Grace Bumanlag, 1st runner up is candidate no. 3, Dezzaree Caras and candidate no. 17, Salini Theamudu as the Mutya ng Lungsod Agham ng Munoz 2017.

Mass Demo

A Mass Demo competition for secondary students was held at the Pag-Asa Gymnasium of Science City of Munoz this January 19, 2017 at 8:00 AM. The program was attended by our city mayor Hon. Nestor L. Alvarez Ph.D., Ms. Catalina P. Paez, Ph.D.,CESO-VI, Mr. Nelween M. Gan, Mr. Elmer G. Sison, chairman of mass demo competition, teachers, students and guests. 6 groups participated in the competition, Gabaldon Integrated School, Maragol Integrated School, MNHS Annex, San Sebastian School, Palusapis Integrated School and San Antonio Integrated School.

The members of the board of judges were Mr. Elino S. Perida, MT1; Mr. Roy Villanueva, MT1; and Ms. Bernadette B. Bersamin, HT IV, all from San Jose City National High School

For the winners, 3rd place was MNHS Annex, 2nd place was Palusapis Integrated School, 1st place San Antonio Integrated School and the champion was Maragol Integrated School.

Astig TM Festival and DeMolay Battle of the Bands

ASTIG TM FESTIVAL, one of the most awaited event was held at the Science City Hall grounds. The Activity was organized by REPUBLIKA NG TM and SMIRNOFF VODKA in cooperation with Wave Sound Productions and Entertainment. The special guest band HALE entertained the crowd.

The Demolay battle of the bands was also held at the Science City Hall grounds. The 7 local bands that participated were All-course Rejects, Chug Chug Punk, Armageddon, Coming Soon, Isla Verde, 7 Down and Sparkplug. Ethereal Bliss, Choco Martin, Mike participated as guest bands. Board of judges was Engr. Armando Miranda, Mr. Remar Eugenio, Dr. Alwyn Jamandre and Mr. Mark Demer Villegas Manuel.

TArmageddon was declared champion of the Demolay battle of the bands, best bassist was Chug Chug Punk, best guitarist was Armageddon, best drummer was Chug Chug Punk and best vocalist was Sparkplug.

Grand Uhay Parade

The Grand Uhay Parade, which symbolizes prosperity and unity, shows the creativeness and resourcefulness of the citizens of Science City of Munoz last January 20, 2017.

Present in the parade were City Mayor Hon. Nestor L. Alvarez Ph.D., City Vice Mayor Ramon Angelo Reyes Coronel, city councilors, city officials, Local Government Unit employees, students from public and private schools, institutions and organizations in the public and private sectors with their banners and floats to showcase their products, services and organization.

Drum and Lyre Exhibition

The Drum and Lyre Exhibition was held in front of the Science City of Munoz City hall last January 20, 2017 at around 2:00 p.m. Ms. Catalina P. Paez, Ph.D., CESO VI, OIC-office of the schools division superintendent, Mr. Nelween M. Gan, chairman of the drum and lyre exhibition, Mr. Emmanuel N. Magno, co-chairman, students, parents, teachers and guests are present to witness the exhibition.

Ten schools participated: Calisitan Elementary School, Maligaya Elementary School, San Felipe Elementary School, Deped CLSU, Munoz North Central School, Palusapis Integrated School, Munoz Central School, San Sebastian School, Bagong Sikat Elementary School and Bantug Elementary School. Each participating school received cash worth of 7,000 pesos.


Bright and colorful lights stunned the crowd as attractive and vibrant fireworks display light up the sky as it highlighted the finale of the celebration of the 4th Uhay Festival, 16th Charter Anniversary and 104th Foundation of Municipality of Muñoz last January 20, 2017 at around 7:00 p.m. This was followed by the hair and fashion show at the Pag-Asa Gymnasium, Science City of Munoz. The show was participated by models through the creative ideas of the members of the Munoz Hair Dressers and Gay Association of the city. Binigkis Dance Company, Lola Diva’s, Binhilan Hip hop Dance Group, Ms. Yssa Alvarez, daughter of former city Vice Mayor Tekila Grace DV Alvarez, Ms. Ivy Grace Lucero, X-pointer, Ms. Angie Rose Pillado executed their talents in the variety show. The Aegis and Pinoy Boy Band PH were the special celebrity guests.
